Local Protocol Program - Instructor Training
The Central Shenandoah EMS Council Local Protocol Program provides
instruction to EMS providers in the region on specific local protocols
that differ from the 1994 release of the Emergency Medical
Technician-Basic: National Standard Curriculum. Modules of the
curriculum include use of automatic external defibrillators (AED),
Combitube airway, EpiPen(r) Auto-Injector, glucose monitoring and use of
glucagon, and administration of aspirin for cardiac emergencies. The
Local Protocol Instructor class qualifies individuals to teach the Local
Protocol course. Each agency is encouraged to have at least one
instructor to teach initial classes and conduct the required annual
reviews.
