Local Medical Examiner Retires	
Dr. Malcolm Tenney has retired as a local medical examiner as of Friday,
December 14, 2007. Currently there is no local replacement. Local
communication centers have been instructed by the Western District
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to contact their office at
800-862-8312 if a medical examiner is needed and they will determine if
they need to come to the scene and/or have the body transported to their
office in Roanoke as a M.E. case.  The local protocol for out of
hospital deaths has not changed. Rather, there is simply a change in
contact procedures for the medical examiner.
