Anyone who resuscitates a cardiac arrest patient feels elated, but the job is not done.
How do we support the patient and minimize the risk of long term brain injury? This
lecture will focus on this question. The participant will understand the general approach
to resuscitated patients.

Complicated by Musculoskeletal Injuries 
Musculoskeletal injuries are common. As an EMT-B, you will be called upon to treat
injuries to muscles and bones, which range from minor to life threatening. Many
musculoskeletal injuries can have a grotesque appearance. In this session you will learn
how to splint and work with these obvious injures without being distracted from
life-threatening conditions by a deformed limb.

While epilepsy may be a common causative factor for seizures in the prehospital setting,
many other pathophysiologies can cause seizures. This interactive, cased-based

of patient's case and discuss treatments that are beneficial. Come with your thinking caps

Common colds, influenza, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, SARS, HIV. What are the implications of
these diseases on EMS providers and the patients? Review the standard precautions needed
when encountering patients with infectious diseases. Learn the latest information on
infectious diseases and better equip yourself to provide exceptional patient care.

This class will present prehospital assessment and care of the pediatric patient
experiencing various causes of respiratory distress and hypoperfusion. Pediatric patients
react and compensate quite differently than adults to these conditions. Recognition and
intervention by the prehospital provider is critical to a positive patient outcome. Will
review treatment and pathophysiology.
