Message from Gary Brown, OEMS Director, regarding displaced EMS workers
following Hurricane Katrina

fully aware of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Many of you may
or may not know that dozens of EMTs and Paramedics may now be without jobs
or housing. In an effort to assist in relocating those that might be
interested in temporary jobs and housing, the Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS)
has taken the lead role in a coordinated, nationwide effort, through the
National Association of State EMS Directors, by asking state EMS offices to
consider acting as a clearinghouse or contact point for displaced EMTs and
Paramedics. (continued)
