 Postresuscitation Management for Pediatric Arrest

Target Audience: ALS
The objective of postresuscitation management is to avoid common causes of both early and late morbidity and mortality in Pediatrics. Early Mortality can be caused by hemodynamic instability and respiratory problems. Later morbidity and mortality can result from multi-organ failure or brain injury. After attending this 2 hour session, you should be able to explain that postresuscitation management applies to care after cardiac arrest care following resuscitation from severe shock or respiratory failure.

Look at the pathophysiology of allergic reactions and the management of the allergic reaction patient.  Do you know how to differentiate between an allergic reaction and an anaphylactic reaction?  We also frequently treat victims of intentional and unintentional overdoses.  Find out if there are any new spins on treating overdose patients.

Shortness of breath is a frequent complaint from prehospital patients, especially the elderly. We'll review normal physiologic changes that occur with aging and how these changes impact common acute and chronic respiratory conditions commonly seen in the prehospital setting.
